Morogoro Town
Morogoro region is one of the biggest tourism centres in the southern tourist circuit of Tanzania. Morogoro Town is situated 195km West of Dar Es Salaam. It is at 1725m altitude bounded by the Uluguru Mountains range to the South East. All tours start from our office in Morogoro Town. Morogoro Town is approximately 3-4 hours drive west of Dar Es Salaam. It is also esily accessible from Mikumi (1 hours drive), Udzungwa (2 hours drive) and Ruaha National Parks (4 hours drive) and Selous Game reserve (5 hours drive).
Uluguru Mountains
The Uluguru Mountain ranges are home to one of the oldest forests in Africa whose ecosystem has remained undisturbed by climatic and geographical changes for an estimated 25 million years with. The forests have high biodiversity and are ranked first in Tanzania among other Eastern Arc Mountain blocks for their highest rates of endemism for both flora and fauna. The area has 135 endemic species, 32 of which are strict Uluguru endemic flora and fauna. Forests in the Uluguru Mountains are ranked fifteenth in mainland Africa for their bird and fauna species and sixth for all vertebrates. In addition, Uluguru Mountains are important bird watching area in Tanzania recognized internationally.
The Uluguru Mountains is a life support for Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and the Coast Region people since they use the water sourced from these mountains. It is these mountain forests which create a wet and cool climate suitable for agricultural activities in the area. Other attractions include waterfalls, high peaks, hot springs and historical sites that include rain making sacred forests under the traditional Kingalu chiefdom.
